VISTA Conference

EGYPT 2023

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) and the Egyptian Paralympic Committee deeply regret to announce the postponement of the VISTA 2023 International Conference. Originally scheduled to take place from October 31st to November 3rd, 2023 in Cairo, Egypt, the decision to defer this prestigious event comes as a result of unforeseen and uncontrollable circumstances within the region.

The ongoing complex situation in the Middle East, including the recent hostilities between Israel and Gaza, has regrettably led to numerous cancellations from our keynote speakers and participants. Despite the steadfast assurances by the organizing committee and the Egyptian government of the stability and security of Egypt, it has become clear that a substantial number of participants have expressed their understandable concerns.

As a response to these circumstances, the IPC and the Egyptian Paralympic Committee have jointly decided to postpone the VISTA 2023 International Conference to a later date in Cairo, which will be communicated shortly. In parallel, the organizing committee is diligently working to facilitate the cancellation of hotel reservations for all participants. Additionally, we are processing refunds for the fees paid by the conference participants and will ensure the expeditious completion of all necessary banking transactions.

We deeply regret the unforeseen cancellation of this event, and please rest assured that both the International Paralympic Committee and the Egyptian Paralympic Committee remain committed to providing the highest standards of safety, credibility, and quality to all our participants. We will spare no effort to hold the conference in the near future in Cairo.

Notably, we want to clarify that the Classification Meeting, scheduled to occur before the VISTA conference in Cairo, remains unaffected. The Cairo organizing committee will proceed with all organizational procedures as planned, and it will take place at the originally scheduled time.

For any inquiries or further information, please do not hesitate to contact our registration committee at Registration@vista2023.com.

Our sincere apologies accompany our best wishes for your continued success, and we look forward to welcoming you to a future event that will uphold the pursuit of excellence and achievement of the conference's academic goals.

In 1993, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) realised that it was important to exchange experiences and increase knowledge pertaining to sport for athletes with a disability in the international arena. As a result, the concept of VISTA, which means a long succession of events, emerged.
The first VISTA Conference was held in Jasper, Canada in May 1993. At this Conference, 163 international participants convened to discuss issues pertinent to sport for athletes with a disability. The delegates included researchers, administrators, trainers, coaches, and athletes. A variety of plenary and interactive sessions were organised in the areas of performance, technical developments, sports medicine, classification, inclusion, ethics, management, and administration.
